Our Dance Classes
We have an amazing team of dedicated and passionate dance teachers at Ignite who use the ADPA syllabus to teach a multitude of different styles!
Our dance classes start from age 3 all the way through to 89! There's a class for everyone, whether your style is classic like ballet, more modern like Contemporary, or fun like Musical Theatre!
Our Dance Studio has a sprung floor and floor-to-ceiling mirrors! It's the perfect way to experience the joy of learning to dance.
OUR DANCE CLASSES
Mini Mover & Pre-School Classes
Our Mini Movers classes are designed to be the perfect Cambridge beginner dance class for younger students of 3 years old. With the use of props and fun music, we aim to give students an enjoyable introduction to the world of dance.
Our Pre-School Ballet and Jazz classes are designed for young students of 4 years old. These classes are more structured and the perfect prep class so your little ones are ready to move up into our APDA syllabus classes.
We provide an atmosphere of kindness and support for our little dancers, while they build up listening skills, memory, coordination, and musicality.
For Cambridge beginner dance classes, Ignite is a great place to start.
Mini Mover classes are for 3-year-olds and are held on Wednesdays at 9:00am & Saturdays at 9:00am
Pre-School classes are for 4-year-olds and there is a choice between Jazz and ballet. These classes are held throughout the week.
Ballet Classes
Ballet is a beautiful and graceful art form widely known as the foundation of all dance styles.
Our classes are an excellent introduction to the ballet journey. The ballet classes lay down the fundamental ballet skills in a fun and engaging environment with classical and modern music. They provide students with technical training and performance training.
Classes offer the necessary base to allow you to create, grow as a dancer and artist, and comfortably follow other various styles of dance.
Our new Cambridge Ballet classes are based on La Beauté Ballet Syllabus by APDA.
Ballet classes start at age 5 and are held on Fridays from 4:00pm
Jazz Dance Classes
One of Ignite Arts Academy's most popular classes is our Cambridge Jazz Dance classes! And with good reason!
Jazz has gained popularity due to television shows, movies, music videos, and commercials. With flowing movements similar to ballet, jazz dancers combine sharp turns, large leaps, and quick footwork in a show of flexibility and grace. Jazz classes involve flexibility training, isolations, and fun upbeat choreography.
Jazz class levels are professionally designed to learn the components, techniques, and terminology of jazz dance. In a jazz class, dancers are encouraged to add their own personalities to make each step unique and fun. All work is progressive and designed to develop coordination, strength, agility, and style.
Our renewed jazz classes are based on the Jazz Addict Syllabus by APDA.
Jazz classes start at age 5 and are held on Tuesdays from 3:30pm & Saturday mornings
Hip Hop Dance Classes
Ignite's Cambridge Hip Hop dance classes are a free form of dancing that really gets you moving.
Gain confidence, fitness, skill, and make new friends. Students will learn, thrive, and achieve together.
The resulting outcome is an energetic class that not only teaches you Urban movements and techniques but also instills rhythm and precision in your muscle memory.
Hip Hop Classes are for ages 5 to 16 and are held on Thursdays from 3:30pm
Contemporary Dance Classes
Contemporary Dance is about expressing emotion through organic movements and unrestricted lines. Incorporating elements of lyrical Jazz, Ballet, and Modern dance, Contemporary dance is an exciting fusion that allows students to work through powerful and emotional routines.
Contemporary dance classes combine strong and controlled ballet legwork with modern dance techniques. They also employ release-contraction techniques, floor work, fall, and recovery. Improvisation is included to encourage freedom of movement and musicality. The contemporary dance classes provide variations of exercises including swings and suspension, travelling progressions, floor sequences, turns, leaps, compositions, and dances.
Our new Cambridge Contemporary dance classes are based on Lucidity Syllabus by APDA.
Contemporary classes start at age 7 and are held on Wednesdays from 4:00pm
Musical Theatre Classes
Ignite Arts Academy is the leader in Cambridge Musical Theatre classes. As musical theatre dance classes are drama based, they require the dancer to have an understanding of how to create various emotions through their movement, facial expressions, and voice.
Musical theatre dance classes also known as 'theatre or Broadway dance' teach students how to sing whilst dancing – to control the breath and reserve energy, whilst at the same time telling the dramatic story being portrayed through the song.
Musical Theatre Classes start at age 5 and are held on Mondays from 3:30pm
